2026 Fashion Trends You'll Actually Wear
We are back at it again with another fashion trend forecast! And while normally I do these by season, today I am excited to dive into what the major trends will be throughout the year 2026.
Most of these trends work for any season, and some are just going to be the more defining ones of their particular season. I also like to share the trends that are actually wearable for everyday, not necessarily what you’re seeing on the runway. So if you love to be up on the trends, these are the ones to definitely pay attention to and budget for!
Before we get into the trends, I have to do my little disclaimer that I always do and say that it is oh so boring to just be a slave to the trends. I find it fascinating to cover all of these, but my no means do I partake in all of these trends myself, nor do I recommend anyone follows all of them.
Developing your own unique personal style is way more fun than hopping on any and every trend. I like to dress with the times a bit because it’s fun and I love the idea of looking back on photos and eras and seeing how the styles have changed throughout my lifetime. I usually pick one or two trends per season that really resonate with my own personal style, but otherwise I keep my closet pretty classic!
Whether your here to inspire your next shopping trip or this is purely educational, let’s dive into what I am predicting will be the major trends we will see everywhere in 2026.
Mesh & Sheer Fabrics
When I tell you it’s EVERYWHERE. From your shoes to your top. A mesh or sheer detail is going to automatically add some interest and automatically make whatever it is you’re wearing on-trend. Especially skirts and shoes!
Quiet Luxury Handbags
Quiet luxury handbags are THAT girl for 2026. They can be designer, but don’t make it obvious. Brands like The Row and Bottega Veneta really nail this, but you definitely don’t have to spend a ton to get the look!

Crew Socks
Wearing crew socks with every kind of shoe, not just sneakers, is an easy and cheap way to look trendy this year. Loafers, ballet flats, heels, ugg slippers, you name it! A slouchy or frilly crew sock gives it that instant trendy factor.
Denim on Denim
A personal fav of mine is the denim on denim look. I love it because it looks so chic but it also incorporates classic and timeless pieces that you can wear well beyond 2026. The washes don’t even have to match, you can do a darker wash with a lighter wash, there’s no rules!
Satin
Satin everything! Satin ballet flats, satin skirts, satin pants, satin dress. This material will be everywhere and a great way to add texture to any of your outfits this year.
Peplum
If you’re a millennial, I know what you’re thinking, and no it’s not the peplum of our youth (2012 era) that will be trending. This peplum is a bit more architectural? Sophisticated? And comes in a variety of different types of tops and even dresses. Some example above!
Pointed Toe Shoes
A rounded edge toe is out, and the pointy toe is in. Honorable mention for a square toe, that is also on trend. And maybe better for those of us with wider feet! But this looks good for heels and flats alike and a trend you’ll see throughout all the seasons.
Leopard Print
Okay I know, this one isn’t earth shattering and it’s BEEN the trend but I do not think it’s going anywhere for 2026. You can bust out those leopard pants you bought last year again without feeling outdated!
Capri Pants
Imma hold your hand when I say this one, but yes, the capri pant is back. Haven’t seen her for decades, but she cropped up a bit for 2025, so I think she will be peak popularity starting in Spring 2026. The vibe is keep it tight, and while black is a classic, don’t be afraid of trendy print options either.
Dark Wash Denim
Darker washes of denim are definitely going to be a thing for 2026. I don’t think any one particular silhouette of jeans is going to dominate (barrel, wide leg, slim straight, flare are all fair game). But this is a trend that is easy to adopt based on whatever style of jeans you like. Or you can even go for a dark wash denim dress, top, jacket - it all works!
Satin Lace Shorts
The popular Doen shorts were a hit last year, and now I think they will slowly replace the boxer shorts trend. It’s a fun comfy option that can be dressed up or down. Styled with a casual tee in the summer or with a sweater and boots in the Fall.
But don’t worry, you don’t have to pay over $200 for a pair now that they are popular. Tons of cheaper options like this pair are out there!
Suede
All things suede is the repeat trend from last year that is sticking around! Suede bags, shoes, jackets, skirts etc. You can’t go wrong! Bonus points if it has a little fringe too.
Boat Shoes & Loafers
Why is it that I prefer a loafer to a boat shoe? IDK but for me the loafer trend has me more excited than the return of the boat shoe. Could be because my husband has about 5 pairs and it’s the only shoe he has worn since our college days. Lucky for him, he is finally back in style!
And while the past few years a chunkier style loafer has been the trend, more low profile penny loafer styles are also trending for 2026.
Faux Fur
This is the MAJOR winter trend this year that I know will pop back up again at the end of 2026 as the temps drop again. I got a comment on my winter fashion trends post about the importance of stressing faux fur, so yes faux fur is going to be the morally superior and cheaper choice and quite honestly I don’t really think real fur is what is cool anymore.
Tabi Shoes
Tabi shoes are the trend that you either love or hate! Personally I will be skipping this one, but if you have enough cool girl aura or whatever the internet is saying these days (clearly, I do not) then adding these to your closet could be fun! Don’t get me wrong, I think they’re cool, I just don’t think I am cool. LOL.

Silk Scarf
I loveeee this trend because it’s versatile, affordable and easy! You can buy a pack of satin scarves on Amazon and wear them so many different ways. Wearing them around your neck is trending, as well as wearing it as a head scarf, on your bag, and even as a faux belt I am seeing everywhere. It takes a plain outfit and elevates it. So cute and easy.
Cropped Coats
This one is so fun! The cropped coat is the cutest little trend and I am here for it. Cropped trench coats, pea coats, and bombers are the cutest addition to your outerwear collection. I love that they have the beginnings of a longer coat’s silhouette, but then it gets cropped making for a cute boxy fit that looks effortlessly cool.
Honorable Mentions:
These are the trends that definitely made an impression in 2025, that I can’t predict if they will come back as strongly in 2026 - what are your thoughts? Let me know in the comments below!
Butter Yellow - had such a MOMENT this summer. Are we sick of it? I’m not
Polka Dots - I mean it’s a timeless print but will dominate like it did in 2025?
Boxer Shorts- I’m still going to wear mine, but will it still be cool?
Barrel Jeans and Pants- I predict the dramatic barrel is going to die down and a more subtle barrel silhouette will actually stick around for awhile.
So what do we think of the 2026 fashion trends? Which ones are you loving and which ones will you be skipping? Also let me know which ones I missed. I create these lists in a pretty non-scientific way just pattern recognition, a fashiontok and shopping addiction, and vibes to guide me! So I would love to hear any other trends we think will have a moment this coming year.
