2027 Fashion Trends You'll Actually Wear

I recently shared the fashion trends I think are on their way OUT for 2027, so obviously we need to talk about what's coming in next.

And I have to say, I'm pretty excited about where fashion seems to be heading.

For the past few years, we've had some VERY dominant trends. Sambas. Wide-leg jeans. Quiet luxury. Butter yellow. Leopard print. Every random "girl" aesthetic TikTok could possibly come up with.

Going into 2027, I think we're going to see things get a little more interesting.

More personality. More accessories. More unexpected styling. And thankfully, less of everyone on the internet wearing some variation of the exact same outfit.

Some of these trends are already starting to pop up, while others are my predictions based on where fashion seems to be heading next.

Here are the 17 fashion trends I think we're going to see everywhere in 2027. And the ones that are like, actually wearable for everyday women like you and me!

1. Peplum

I know.

Some of us lived through the first peplum era and may need a minute to process this information.

But peplum is soooo back.

And before you immediately picture the extremely structured peplum tops we were wearing with statement necklaces in 2012, the newer versions feel a little different.

We're seeing softer shapes, exaggerated hems and tops that create more definition around the waist without necessarily looking like the peplum tops we wore the first time around.

After years of oversized everything, I'm actually not surprised we're starting to see silhouettes that emphasize the waist again.

Will I personally be digging my old peplum tops out of storage?

Absolutely not.

But am I open to seeing what 2027 does with it? Yes.

2. Scoop Necklines

Crewnecks have dominated basics for what feels like forever, so I'm very ready for this one.

Scoop necklines are making their way back onto fitted tees, tanks, sweaters and dresses, and they immediately make even a really simple outfit feel a little different.

There's also something slightly '90s and early 2000s about a good scoop-neck top that works perfectly with where fashion seems to be heading.

This is one of those trends that's also ridiculously easy to wear.

No complicated styling required. Just show us a little collarbone again.

3. Funnel-Neck Jackets

If you're shopping for a new jacket going into 2027, this is a silhouette I'd keep an eye on.

Funnel-neck jackets have that high collar that can be worn zipped or buttoned all the way up around the neck, and they're showing up in everything from sporty jackets to more structured outerwear.

They feel modern without being so trendy that you're going to hate them six months later.

I especially love this shape on shorter jackets, which brings me to another trend we'll get to further down the list.

4. Wedge Sandals

Wedges are back.

Yes. WEDGES.

But before you start having flashbacks to the gigantic cork wedges we were wearing in 2010, the newer versions feel much sleeker.

Think lower wedges, sculptural shapes, thong sandals and more minimal styles.

After years of flat shoes and tiny kitten heels dominating, it makes sense that we're ready for a little height again.

And honestly? As someone who would rather walk around in a wedge than a stiletto any day, I support this.

5. Scarves Worn Everywhere

Scarves are about to work overtime.

Obviously we're still wearing them around our necks, but that's just the beginning.

We're seeing scarves tied around waists, worn as belts, wrapped around heads and tied onto handbags.

And I think this is part of a bigger shift happening in fashion right now.

Instead of buying an entirely new outfit to make something feel current, we're starting to see more creative styling of pieces people already own.

A scarf can completely change a basic jeans-and-tee outfit without requiring you to buy five new things.

I'm into it.

6. Fanny Packs Worn Around the Waist

I cannot believe I'm typing this.

After years of wearing belt bags slung diagonally across our chests, we're apparently remembering why they were called BELT bags in the first place.

They're moving back down to the waist.

And weirdly?

It looks kind of cool again.

The 2027 version feels less like the sporty crossbody belt bags we've been wearing for the past several years and more like an actual styling piece worn with trousers, dresses and skirts.

I realize some of you will absolutely refuse this one.

That's okay.

Give it six months.

7. Prairie Core

Romantic fashion isn't disappearing in 2027, but I think we're moving away from the super literal bows-and-ribbons coquette aesthetic and into something a little more relaxed.

Think prairie dresses, soft florals, ruffles, lace, full skirts and vintage-inspired details.

Basically feminine without looking like you attached a bow to every available surface.

There's something really pretty about this trend, especially when the romantic pieces are styled with something unexpected.

A prairie-style dress with a modern shoe or oversized jacket feels much fresher to me than wearing the aesthetic head-to-toe.

8. Dark-Wash Denim

After years of light and medium-wash denim dominating, dark denim is coming back in a big way.

And I LOVE this one.

Dark-wash jeans immediately make an outfit feel a little more put together, even if you're literally just wearing them with a basic tee.

We're also seeing dark denim on jackets, skirts and matching denim pieces.

I don't think lighter denim is going anywhere, obviously, but if you're buying a new pair of jeans for 2027, I'd definitely consider adding a really good dark wash.

9. Animal Print Beyond Leopard

Leopard has had us in an absolute chokehold.

And while I'm not saying leopard print is suddenly disappearing, I think we're going to start branching out.

Zebra. Snakeskin. Cow print. Tiger. Even more abstract animal-inspired prints.

Basically, animal print is sticking around, but leopard doesn't get to have all the fun anymore.

I especially think we'll see this with accessories.

A snakeskin bag or shoe is an easy way to make a basic outfit feel much more interesting without going full zoo.

10. Gold Metallic Accents

Silver has dominated the metallic trend for the past few years, but I think we're going to start seeing the pendulum swing back toward gold.

Not necessarily head-to-toe gold outfits.

Please don't.

I'm talking gold shoes, handbags, belts and smaller metallic details worked into otherwise wearable outfits.

Gold also works really well with the richer browns, dark denim and warmer colors we're seeing, so the timing makes sense.

Silver isn't dead. I just don't think it's going to be the automatic metallic choice anymore.

11. Embellished Shoes

Our shoes are getting FUN again.

After years of relatively simple loafers, ballet flats and sneakers, we're starting to see shoes with much more going on.

Studs. Crystals. Hardware. Embroidery. Texture. Interesting straps.

Basically, the shoe itself gets to be the interesting part of the outfit.

And I think this fits perfectly with the bigger shift away from ultra-minimalist fashion.

You can wear jeans and a basic top and let your shoes do all the work.

My kind of trend.

12. Ballerina Sneakers

If you're already tired of Sambas but still want a low-profile sneaker, meet one of the best shoe trends coming for us.

Ballerina sneakers.

They're basically what happens when a ballet flat and a sneaker have a baby.

Some have Mary Jane-style straps. Some lace up like ballet shoes. Others are essentially super slim sneakers with ballet-inspired details.

Do I think everyone is going to love these?

Absolutely not.

Do I think we're going to see them all over fashion girls in 2027?

Absolutely.

And as is usually the case with slightly weird shoes, I fully expect everyone to hate them for approximately three months before suddenly deciding they're cute.

13. Cropped Jackets

We spent years making everything bigger and longer.

Now we're chopping our jackets in half.

Cropped jackets are going to be huge in 2027, especially paired with higher-rise pants, skirts and dresses.

We're talking cropped leather jackets, denim jackets, trenches, bombers and more structured styles.

And this goes back to that shift in proportions I think we're going to see more of.

Instead of hiding the entire outfit underneath an enormous blazer or jacket, we're starting to see silhouettes that actually show the waist and create some shape again.

14. Y2K-Style Layering

We're layering again, and not necessarily in ways that make sense.

Which is kind of the point.

Think camisoles layered over tees, lace peeking out from underneath tops, tanks stacked together and dresses worn over other pieces.

It's very early-2000s in that "I put on three shirts for absolutely no reason" kind of way.

But the newer version feels more intentional.

This is another trend that makes me think 2027 fashion is going to be much more about HOW you wear something rather than simply owning the exact viral item everyone else owns.

More styling. Less uniform.

15. Shield Sunglasses

Tiny sunglasses had their moment.

Now we're heading in the complete opposite direction.

Shield sunglasses are big, sporty and sometimes slightly ridiculous, which obviously means fashion people are going to love them.

We're already seeing larger wraparound and shield-style frames creeping back in, and I think they'll become even bigger in 2027.

This is definitely one of the more trend-forward things on this list.

If you've been waiting patiently for giant sunglasses to return, your time may finally be coming.

16. Statement Jewelry

Minimal jewelry isn't disappearing, but I think we're finally moving beyond the era where every outfit gets the exact same tiny gold hoops and delicate necklace.

Jewelry is becoming noticeable again.

Chunkier necklaces. Big earrings. Cuffs. Brooches. Layered pieces. Vintage-inspired jewelry.

And I'm especially interested in seeing how this gets styled with otherwise simple outfits.

A white tee, dark jeans and one really great piece of jewelry feels much more interesting right now than piling on another perfectly coordinated minimalist outfit.

After years of "quiet luxury," fashion seems ready to make a little noise again.

17. East-West Bags

If you're wondering what handbag shape is going to be everywhere next, keep an eye on east-west bags.

These are the long, horizontal bags that are wider than they are tall, usually with a relatively slim profile.

And they're already popping up everywhere.

They feel sleek and a little retro without looking overly vintage, and they work just as well with casual outfits as they do with something dressier.

I also think we're going to see a lot of variations on this shape, from structured leather versions to softer, slouchier bags.

If you're buying a new handbag and want something that feels very current heading into 2027, this is one of the first shapes I'd look at.

What Will Fashion Look Like in 2027?

Obviously, we're not going to wake up on January 1st and suddenly everyone is wearing peplum tops, wedges and a fanny pack around their waist.

Trends don't work like that.

But I do think there's a pretty clear shift happening.

For the past few years, fashion has been VERY internet-driven. One item goes viral, everyone buys it, every retailer makes a version of it and suddenly we're all wearing the same thing.

And I think people are getting a little bored.

What I'm seeing for 2027 feels more styled.

Scarves tied in unexpected ways. Statement jewelry. Interesting shoes. Layering. Different proportions. Vintage-inspired details. Accessories that actually add something to an outfit.

Basically, personal style might finally be making a comeback.

And after several years of being told we all need the exact same sneakers, jeans, jacket and aesthetic?

I'm very ready for it.
