10 Fragrance Layering Combos That Smell SO Good Together
“Try layering your fragrances” is cute advice, but I want names. Which lotion? Which perfume? Are we going for vanilla cupcake or expensive beach vacation? These are important questions.
If you read my How to Always Smell Amazing post, you already know that layering is one way to make your fragrance routine feel a little more personal. And you don’t need six products to do it.
A good lotion-and-perfume combo is plenty. Something creamy underneath your favorite vanilla perfume, a little coconut with your summer fragrance, or a fresh, musky lotion for that girl who somehow always smells amazing.
These are ten combinations worth trying, depending on your kind of scent. Fair warning: the vanilla girls have options.
How to Layer Your Lotion and Perfume
Lotion first, let it absorb, then perfume. Start with a light application and give everything a little time to settle before adding more.
That’s it. You do not need to turn your morning routine into a chemistry assignment.
If you’re trying a new combination, test it on one arm first. And check your bathroom before shopping, because you might already own half of one of these.

Which Fragrance Combo Should You Try First?
Whichever one includes something you already own.
Seriously. You do not need to buy a new perfume and a new lotion just because someone on the internet has a cute idea. Including me.
If you already have Vanilla Cashmere, try it with Vanilla | 28 or Black Opium. If Glossier You is your everyday perfume, Fresh & Cozy is an easy place to start. And if you’re a Burberry Her girl, Strawberry Pound Cake gives you a sweet variation to test.
