Trendy Snow Day Outfit Ideas That Are Cozy But Cute
There are basically two kinds of snow days: the ones where you’re actually going out in the snow, and the ones where you fully intend to stay inside with a coffee until further notice. Either way, the outfit can still be cute.
And thankfully, snow day outfits have gotten a LOT better. You can wear an actual warm coat, snow boots, leggings, layers, gloves, a hat—the whole thing—without looking like you’re headed on an Arctic expedition.
These snow day outfit ideas cover everything from running out for coffee to walking around town, heading somewhere for the weekend, or staying cozy at home while it snows. And because winter accessories are having such a moment right now, some of the easiest outfits are also the simplest.
Here are some of my favorite trendy snow day outfits to copy this winter.
1. Long Coat + Sweater + Leggings + Boots
This is one of those snow day outfits that’s cute without requiring much effort. Start with a warm oversized sweater and leggings, then add a long coat and chunky boots. I love the mix of cream, camel and dark brown here because it feels a little more interesting than an all-black winter outfit but is still incredibly easy to wear.
A patterned beanie and oversized scarf make the outfit feel more styled while actually serving a purpose. Add warm socks underneath the boots and you have an outfit that works for grabbing coffee, running errands or pretty much any casual snow day plan.

2. Leopard Puffer + Fair Isle Sweater + Jeans
If you're tired of wearing the same basic black puffer all winter, this is such a fun alternative. A leopard print puffer immediately makes jeans and a sweater feel cooler, and I love it paired with a brown Fair Isle sweater instead of another neutral basic.
Keep everything else pretty simple with relaxed jeans, cozy clogs, a balaclava and furry mittens. This is definitely more of a cold-weather outfit than a trekking-through-six-inches-of-snow outfit, but for a casual snow day when the sidewalks are clear? So cute.
3. Matching Sweater Set + Cozy Slippers
Not every snow day requires leaving the house. Sometimes the best snow day outfit is the one you're wearing while watching it come down from the couch.
A matching sweater and lounge pant set feels a little more put together than pajamas while still being ridiculously comfortable. Add fuzzy slippers, thick socks and a beanie if your house is freezing, make something warm to drink and call it a day.
4. Leather Shorts + Tights + Knee-High Boots
For a snow day outfit that feels a little more dressed up, I love the combination of leather shorts, sheer black tights and tall boots. The cream sweater and matching jacket keep the outfit from feeling too dark, while the black accessories tie everything together.

Obviously, this isn't the outfit for shoveling your driveway. But if you're going out to lunch, shopping, heading to a cute mountain town or have actual plans on a snowy day, it works. Add a scarf and beanie for extra warmth.
5. Fitted Jumpsuit + Puffer + Snow Boots
This is basically the winter version of throwing on a matching workout set and somehow looking put together. A fitted black jumpsuit gives you a super simple base layer, and then you can pile on all the warm stuff.
Add a cropped printed puffer, chunky snow boots, a beanie and mittens. The fitted jumpsuit balances out the oversized jacket and boots, so even though you're bundled up, the outfit still has some shape.
6. Faux Fur Coat + Black Pants + Moon Boots
If you're going somewhere snowy and want to fully commit to the après-ski vibe, this is it.
A brown faux fur coat over a fitted black turtleneck and black pants is simple but SO good. The Moon Boots are what really make the outfit feel fun instead of just like another black winter look. Add a pom-pom beanie and gloves and you're done.

7. Cardigan + Jeans + Long Coat
This is probably one of the easiest snow day outfits to recreate with pieces you already own. Start with a chunky cardigan and relaxed jeans, then layer a long coat over everything.
I especially love this with light-wash denim because it breaks up all of the beige and brown. A burgundy bag adds a little color, while the hood, mittens and cozy clogs keep everything feeling very wintery.

8. Fair Isle Sweater + Leggings + Teddy Coat
A Fair Isle sweater is one of those things that instantly makes an outfit feel appropriate for a snowy day. Pair one with black leggings and you have the easiest base for layering.
Throw a long black teddy coat over it, add a big scarf and finish with snow boots and mittens. It's warm, comfortable and still cute enough that you don't feel like you just threw on every winter item you own.

9. Wide-Leg Jeans + Cropped Jacket + Rain Boots
Snowy doesn't always mean freezing. If you're dealing with that slushy, wet kind of snow, this outfit makes way more sense than breaking out your heaviest puffer.
Wide-leg jeans, a fitted black cardigan and a lightweight black jacket make a really easy everyday outfit. Add chunky waterproof Chelsea boots and a crossbody bag so you're ready for the gross sidewalks without having to wear actual snow boots.

10. Cardigan + Leggings + Slippers
This is my other snowed-in option because we absolutely need more than one.
A belted cardigan, tank and leggings feels cozy enough for staying home but still like you got dressed. Thick socks and slippers are obviously non-negotiable. It's perfect for working from home, making breakfast, watching movies or doing absolutely nothing productive because it's snowing.

11. Burgundy Puffer + Sweater + Jeans
I love a colored puffer right now, especially in a deep burgundy. It's still neutral enough that you'll wear it constantly, but it makes a winter outfit so much more interesting than automatically reaching for black.
Pair it with a cream sweater and dark-wash jeans, then bring in warm brown accessories with gloves, a suede bag and cozy clogs. Earmuffs are also very much back, and they're such an easy way to make a basic winter outfit feel cuter.
12. Faux Fur Coat + Fitted Jumpsuit + Snow Boots
If the black jumpsuit outfit was the sporty version, this is its slightly more dramatic sister.
A chocolate brown fitted jumpsuit with a dark faux fur coat feels very ski-trip-without-actually-skiing. Add white snow boots for contrast, a belt bag, gloves and a headband. It's warm, easy and looks like you tried much harder than you actually did.
13. Trendy Winter Boots for 2026/2027
Snow boots are genuinely cute right now, which makes getting dressed for actual winter weather a lot easier. The big trend going into winter 2026/2027 is boots that feel intentionally chunky and cozy rather than purely practical.
Moon Boots are still a major part of the look, along with shearling-lined boots, puffer boots, furry styles and chunky lace-up boots. I'm also seeing more fashion-forward snow boots in brown, cream and unexpected color combinations instead of everything being black.
You don't necessarily need a traditional snow boot for every winter outfit either. Lug-sole Chelsea boots and weather-resistant lace-up boots can work really well for lighter snow and slushy days when you still want something practical.
14. Trendy Winter Coats for 2026/2027
Winter coats are getting a lot more fun. The basic puffer isn't going anywhere, but there are so many other options right now that actually become part of the outfit instead of something you immediately want to take off.
Faux fur is huge, especially in brown, chocolate and black. Shearling details are everywhere too, from oversized collars to fully trimmed jackets. Belted puffers are another good option if you like something with a little more shape, and long quilted coats are still great when you need actual warmth.
I'm also into the shorter statement puffers we're seeing in richer colors and prints. Burgundy, brown and animal print are all easy ways to make a winter outfit feel more current without doing anything complicated.
15. Trendy Winter Accessories for 2026/2027
Honestly, the accessories might be the most fun part of winter fashion right now.
Balaclavas and knit hoods are still around, but we're also seeing fuzzy headbands, oversized scarves, faux fur hats, earmuffs and mittens everywhere. They're practical, but they also give you an easy way to change the entire vibe of a basic coat-and-jeans outfit.
Faux fur and shearling details are especially big for 2026/2027, so even something as simple as furry earmuffs or mittens can make an old coat feel newer. And if you've been hanging onto a giant scarf from years ago, congratulations because oversized scarves are very much useful again.

Cute Snow Day Outfits Don't Have to Be Complicated
The easiest way to make a snow day outfit cute is honestly to stop fighting all the practical winter stuff and make it part of the outfit. The big coat, chunky boots, giant scarf, mittens and hat don't have to ruin the look—they can BE the look.
And with faux fur, Moon Boots, Fair Isle sweaters, oversized scarves, earmuffs and fun puffers all having a moment, this is a pretty good winter to actually have to bundle up.
Whether you're heading out into the snow or staying firmly planted on the couch, hopefully these snow day outfit ideas give you something cute to copy.
