The 2027 Shoe Trends That Will Be Everywhere
If you feel like shoes have been kind of boring for the past few years, I have good news: 2027 is looking a lot more fun.
We’ve spent years wearing the same handful of shoes with everything. Sambas. Chunky sneakers. Basic ballet flats. Loafers. And while I’m definitely not saying you need to throw all of those away, shoes are finally starting to feel like an actual part of the outfit again.
The biggest shoe trends for 2027 are a little more feminine, a little more unexpected, and in some cases, honestly kind of weird.
We’re seeing wedges come back, ballet sneakers get even bigger, boat shoes somehow become cool again, and boots move away from the super structured styles we’ve been wearing for years.
And if you look at some of the shoes coming down the runways and think, “Wait, are those cute or absolutely hideous?” that’s basically where we’re headed.

Here are the 2027 shoe trends I think we’re about to see everywhere.
1. Wedge Sandals
Wedges are officially back, and I know some millennials are going to need a minute with this one.
But before you picture the giant cork wedges we wore with going-out tops in 2010, the newer versions feel a lot sleeker.
Think lower wedges, minimal leather straps, wedge mules, and shoes that give you some height without looking super heavy.
I actually love this comeback because wedges are way easier to walk in than a skinny heel, and they look especially good with all of the longer skirts, dresses, and slightly more feminine silhouettes that are trending right now.
2. Ballet Sneakers
Ballet sneakers were one of the biggest shoe trends to come out of 2026, and I definitely don’t think they’re going anywhere yet.

If anything, I think we’re going to see even more versions of them in 2027.
The first wave was basically ballet flats mixed with the super slim sneaker trend, but now we’re seeing satin, straps, Mary Jane details, lace-up styles, and sneakers that look even more like actual ballet shoes.
They’re an easy way to make jeans and a basic top feel more current without having to completely change how you dress.
3. Ultra-Slim Sneakers
Chunky dad sneakers aren’t disappearing completely, but sneakers are definitely getting skinnier.

The trendy sneaker shape for 2027 sits really low to the ground with a narrow sole and a much slimmer profile.
Basically, the opposite of the giant sneakers we were wearing a few years ago.
They look especially good with baggier jeans and pants because you get that contrast between the oversized bottoms and tiny shoe.
And if you’ve been wondering what comes after everyone wearing Sambas, this is probably the bigger shift to pay attention to.
4. Boat Shoes
I did not have boat shoes becoming cool again on my bingo card, but here we are.
Boat shoes have slowly been creeping back into fashion, and I think 2027 is when we’re going to see them become way more mainstream.
They fit perfectly with the return of preppy style we’ve already been seeing with rugby shirts, barn jackets, scarves, dark wash denim, and other slightly old-school pieces.
The key is not styling them like you’re headed to a yacht club.
I’d wear them with relaxed jeans, boxer-style pants, a mini skirt, or even baggy trousers to make them feel more current.
5. Derby Shoes
Loafers have dominated for years, but derby shoes feel like the next step.
They have that same menswear-inspired feel, but they’re a little less expected.
I especially like them styled with pieces that feel completely opposite: mini skirts, dresses, capris, tall socks, or even something really feminine on top.
That whole masculine shoe + feminine outfit combination is going to be big in 2027.
6. High-Vamp Shoes
This is one of those trends that you might not know the name of yet, but once you notice it, you’re going to start seeing it everywhere.
A high-vamp shoe basically comes farther up the top of your foot than a traditional ballet flat or pump.
Some of them almost look like little glove shoes.
And yes, they can look a little grandma-ish.
That is kind of the point.
After years of super low-cut ballet flats, the higher shape suddenly feels different and interesting. Expect to see it on flats, pumps, Mary Janes, and soft leather shoes throughout 2027.
7. Heeled Flip-Flops
Flip-flops have already made their way back into actual outfits, so naturally the next step is adding a heel.

Heeled flip-flops are going to be a big warm-weather shoe in 2027, especially kitten heel versions.
They have that very late-'90s/early-2000s look without feeling like you're wearing a costume.
Wear them with long skirts, capris, relaxed trousers, or a simple dress.
Honestly, they're one of those shoes that can make a very basic outfit look instantly more intentional.
8. Mesh Flats
Mesh flats are sticking around for 2027, and honestly, they’ve gotten so much better.
We’re moving beyond the super simple mesh ballet flats into Mary Janes, pointed toes, embellished styles, and pairs with cool little details that make them feel way more interesting.
They’re basically the perfect in-between shoe when you want something lighter than a loafer but a little more unexpected than a regular ballet flat.
9. Lace-Up Ballet Flats
Ballet flats aren't going away, but they're definitely evolving.
One version I think we're going to see a lot more of is the lace-up ballet flat, especially styles with thin ties that wrap around the ankle.
They feel more like an actual ballet shoe than the basic ballet flats we've been wearing for the past few years.
I love these with cropped pants, capris, mini skirts, and dresses where you can actually see the ankle detail.
10. Pointed-Toe Pumps
After years of casual shoes dominating basically every outfit, actual heels are starting to feel cool again.
Pointed-toe pumps are especially coming back, but I wouldn't save them for work or weddings.
The 2027 way to wear them is with much more casual pieces.
Think pointed pumps with baggy jeans, a rugby shirt, denim shorts, capris, or an oversized jacket.
It's that slightly unexpected combination that keeps them from feeling too corporate.
11. Embellished Shoes
Shoes are getting decorated again.
Rhinestones, studs, charms, beads, metal hardware, bows, and other little details are showing up on everything from flats to sneakers.
And I'm very into it.
You don't necessarily need a completely insane pair of shoes either. Even a basic black flat with studs or a simple sneaker with metallic details can make an outfit feel way more interesting.
This also fits into the bigger shift away from quiet luxury and super minimal everything.
12. Animal-Print Shoes
Leopard isn't disappearing, but animal print is getting a lot broader in 2027.
Expect to see more zebra, snakeskin, cow print, tiger-inspired prints, and other animal patterns showing up on shoes.
If wearing a full animal-print outfit sounds horrifying to you, shoes are probably the easiest way to try this trend.
A pair of zebra flats or snakeskin boots with an otherwise basic outfit gives you the trend without feeling like you're trying too hard.
13. Slouchy Boots
After years of really structured knee-high boots, we're starting to see boots loosen up again.
Slouchy boots have a softer shaft that bunches around the ankle or calf instead of sitting perfectly straight against your leg.
They feel a little more effortless and work really well with the skirts and dresses we're seeing right now.
I especially like them with mini skirts, long flowy skirts, and dresses where the softer boot keeps everything from looking too polished.
14. Pointed-Toe Knee-High Boots
Pointed toes aren't just coming back on pumps.

We're also going to see a lot of sleek pointed-toe knee-high boots, especially with kitten and mid-height heels.
This is another big departure from the chunky lug-sole boots that dominated for so long.
They're a little dressier and more feminine, but you definitely don't need to wear them with a fancy outfit.
Try them under straight-leg jeans, with a midi skirt, or even with a casual oversized sweater and mini skirt.
15. Fold-Over Boots
Fold-over boots are another very Y2K shoe trend making their way back.
These have an extra piece of material at the top that folds or cuffs over the shaft, sometimes creating an almost pirate-boot shape.
I realize that description is not exactly selling them lol.
But styled correctly, they're actually really good.
Look for slimmer versions with pointed toes or heels rather than anything too chunky. They look especially good with mini skirts, shorts, and dresses where the boot gets to be the main part of the outfit.
The Overall Trend? Statement Shoes
Basically, shoes are getting personality again!
Honestly, this might be my favorite overall fashion shift happening for 2027.
For years, the goal seemed to be finding the perfect basic shoe that could go with every single outfit. Now we're starting to see the exact opposite.
And let’s note, we are intentionally wearing the shoes with multiple outfits, even if it doesn’t “go”.
Unusual toe shapes. Strange proportions. Hybrid shoes that are half sneaker, half ballet flat. Shoes that look vintage. Shoes that look vaguely orthopedic. Shoes you can't immediately decide if you love or hate.
Not every weird runway shoe is going to become the next big thing, obviously.
But I do think the bigger idea will.
In 2027, your shoes don't always have to quietly match your outfit. Sometimes they're going to be the entire reason the outfit works.
And honestly, if you look at a pair of shoes and aren't entirely sure whether they're ugly or amazing, congratulations. They're probably about to trend.
