If you are working on creating the chic patio or outdoor space of your dreams, you may have been eyeing up the very popular rattan egg chair that everyone went nuts for the past few years!
I can totally see why! It’s super trendy looking, but also comfy and great for curling up with a book on a sunny day. The famous egg chair really gained popularity when Target released their version of this boho chic patio accent furniture.

As you can see, this rattan egg chair is so gorgeous and makes a great statement piece for your patio, porch, backyard, or I’ve even seen people put them inside their homes as well! I also LOVE the newer, more square version that Target came out with last year:

That being said, some of us don’t want spend over $500 if we don’t have to! (Both of these retail for $550). I love the Target ones, don’t get me wrong, but I can’t help but wonder why are egg chairs so expensive? Is the Target egg chair worth it? I’m sure it’s great but I like to save as much money as possible (without sacrificing quality of course!) If you feel the same way then lucky for you I love hunting down cheap patio furniture, so it was fun for me to go out and find a ton of cheaper alternatives to the Target egg chair!

Let’s start out by saying if you want the TLDR version of this post, here is the absolute BEST cheaper version of the Target rattan egg chair, and it’s from good old Walmart!

The Better Homes and Gardens Ventura Boho Stationary Wicker Egg Chair from Walmart checks every box for me! It’s way more affordable at $ dollars (at the time of me writing this post), and it’s almost a dead ringer for the original Target version! It kind of makes you wonder why even bother buying the Target patio chair when this one is basically identical and much cheaper!

This egg chair is my second favorite look for less because the price is insanely good and it’s not quite as good of a match as the Walmart one, but it’s pretty dang close!
PLUS this exact same chair is sold at both Lowe’s and Overstock, so you can definitely price check to see if one is having a sale in order to get the best price possible!

We love a good Amazon option! And the price is right for sure. The only thing is that I see complaints about it being tough to assemble in the reviews (although most reviews are very positive and people even posted pictures of it fully assembled and it looks great, so take that with a grain of salt, some people are just not skilled at assembling furniture!) You can also add on for $94 someone to come assemble it for you and it would STILL be cheaper than buying the Target one and assembling it yourself!

Another solid option that is a little pricier than the other options I have mentioned but still cheaper than the Target egg chair! Another one where you can price check- it’s sold by Best Choice Products directly on their website as well as on Amazon. This one is pretty spot on with the look being very similar to the Target version.

I actually really love shopping at Home Depot for good quality but reasonably priced furniture and patio furniture is no exception! Their egg chair does come in the classic off-white cushion, but if you have a thing for blues and color in your backyard this blue version is so gorgeous! The price is getting up there but definitely still cheaper than the Target egg chair! Plus the Target version doesn’t come in this beautiful shade of blue!

This is another great choice if you want to save money AND space! It is a bit more narrow than the classic egg chair and the price is fantastic! Tons of ratings and mostly positive with 4.7 stars! You can even see a ton of pictures of the chair assembled in people’s homes in the reviews section so you can envision what it would look like in your space (and have the reassurance that it looks good and is easy to assemble!)

This is by far the most affordable option, but it is also the smallest! I do love how it looks, and it is actually a best seller on my blog from this post about boho chic chairs for your home. This is a great option that could be indoor or outdoor on a covered patio, porch, or deck to give your home a bit of a boho flair! Is this egg chair weather proof or waterproof? Not really. The assembly instructions mention to keep the chair out of the sun and it is not made for the outdoors, so I would be sure to place it somewhere covered if you want it to be outside.

Another great option if you have more of a navy blue theme to your patio or outdoor space! It’s definitely a far cry from the shape and colors of the Target version BUT it’s also a far cry from the price (in a good way!)

Ok clearly this chair is sold at many stores, so if you like it definitely price check all of these! (I have the exact links listed above for you to make it easy!) But if you dig the tear drop shape and are looking for a neutral rattan egg chair, then this is it! No matter which store’s version you go for they are all very reasonably priced!

This is a cute option if you’re looking for something with lighter tones! Plus it swivels, which is a feature the Target egg chair does not have! The only drawback is that it doesn’t have any reviews! So that’s why it is last on my list. But it really is a very pretty option if you’re looking for a lighter colored option!
