22 Fall 2026 Fashion Trends You'll Actually Wear
It’s my favorite time of year! Fall fashion trends report season! I love rounding up what the big trends are going to be, but for us normal girls.
All of these trends are for those of us looking for what is actually wearable for everyday, and not just for celebrities and runway models.
But fall is the BEST trend report always, every year. We’re all done sweating, there’s a new school year starting and all the things that come along with that, holiday season is on the way, and people are ready to swap out their sun dresses and sandals for sweaters and boots and what’s trending this season!
Short disclaimer before we hop into the trends: I don’t expect you to like or follow all of these. This is purely informational. I find it fascinating to report on the trend cycle every season, but by no means am I endorsing following every single trend. And if something is not on this list or “out of style” that you love - then congratulations, you have A-opinions and B-personal style!
So let’s get into the Fall 2026 Fashion Trends! (And the big color trend of the season reveal at the end!)
Ballet Sneakers
The ballet sneaker is basically what happens when your favorite flat and your favorite sneaker have a baby. They are dainty, feminine, and just a little bit sporty all at the same time which makes them the perfect transitional shoe for fall.

I love that you can throw them on with jeans, a midi skirt, or even leggings and instantly look like you put effort in when you really didn't. They come in so many cute colors and prints too so it's easy to find a pair that matches your vibe.
Blazer + Skirt Sets
The matching blazer and skirt set is the easiest way to look like you have your life together when you absolutely do not. It's giving office siren, it's giving old money, it's giving "I have a Pilates membership" energy.

I love that this one piece of styling does all the work for you because everything already matches. Wear it as a set when you want to feel a little fancy or break the pieces apart and style them separately for double the outfits.
Animal Print Coats
Animal print coats are having a serious moment this fall and honestly I am so here for it. They feel a little retro, a little luxe, and they make even the most basic outfit feel intentional.
I love throwing one over a simple jeans and tee combo because the coat just becomes the whole outfit for you. Leopard is the safest bet if you're new to the trend but snake, zebra, and cow are all having a moment too.
Asymmetry
Asymmetrical hems, necklines, and silhouettes are everywhere right now and they're such an easy way to make a basic outfit feel a little more interesting. The off kilter shapes add visual interest without you having to try too hard.
I love an asymmetrical top or skirt because it does the work of accessorizing for you. Pair it with something simple on the other half so the shape gets to be the star.
Bomber Jackets
The bomber jacket is back and this time she's leaning way more vintage than sporty. Think suede, leather, and oversized fits that feel like you stole them from your dad's closet in the best way.
I love a bomber thrown over a mini skirt or wide leg jeans for that tomboy meets girly contrast that's so trendy right now. They're also just super practical for fall when you need something more substantial than a denim jacket but not as heavy as a coat.
Fun Tights
Tights are officially no longer just for keeping your legs warm under a dress. Colored, patterned, and printed tights are one of the easiest ways to make any outfit feel a little more fashion forward this season.

I love how a pair of red, leopard, or polka dot tights can take a totally basic black dress and make it feel intentional. It's such a low effort way to participate in a trend without committing to a whole new piece of clothing.
Brooches
Brooches are back and not in the grandma way you're thinking. The new way to wear them is pinned to a blazer lapel, on a sweater, or even on the strap of your bag for that vintage inspired touch.
I love that brooches are such an easy thrift store find too so you don't have to spend a ton to participate in this trend. Raid your grandma's jewelry box or hit up an antique shop and you'll have a piece nobody else has.
Stirrup Pants
I cannot believe I'm typing this but stirrup pants are officially back. The 80s aerobics queens are vindicated and honestly once you see them styled with a chic flat or kitten heel, you kind of get it.
I love how they keep your legs looking long and lean because the stirrup pulls everything down nice and smooth. Pair them with an oversized button down or a chunky sweater to balance out the leggy bottom.
Rugby Shirts
The rugby shirt is the unexpected fall staple that's giving prep school energy in the best way. Color blocked stripes, a contrasting white collar, and that slightly oversized fit make it feel both vintage and current at the same time.
I love wearing one with a denim mini skirt and tall socks or with wide leg jeans and sneakers for that easy weekend vibe. It's also a great way to add some color and pattern without committing to a wild print.
Fur Coats
Faux fur coats are giving major main character energy this fall and winter. They instantly elevate any outfit underneath and make even the most basic jeans and tee feel like you're going somewhere important.
I love a neutral fur in cream, brown, or black because it goes with literally everything in your closet. Throw one over your everyday outfit and suddenly you look like you have a personal stylist.
Square Toes
Square toe shoes are officially the toe shape of the season. Whether it's a boot, a heel, or a ballet flat, that flat squared off front instantly makes any shoe feel more modern and editorial.
I love that the square toe gives even the most basic black boot a little something extra. It's such a small detail but it really updates your shoe game without you having to buy a totally crazy pair.
Statement Socks
Statement socks are having a real moment and I'm so here for it. Sheer polka dots, delicate lace, slouchy ribbed knits, the sockier the better when paired with the right shoe.
I love wearing them with loafers, mary janes, or fisherman sandals for that schoolgirl meets grown up vibe. They add personality to an outfit and they're a really fun way to play with proportion and texture.
Dark Blue Denim
After years of light washes and distressed denim, dark blue jeans are back and they're feeling really fresh. The deep indigo color reads more elevated and works for almost any occasion which is why I think this trend is here to stay for a while.

I love how dark denim instantly makes a casual outfit feel more put together. Tuck a sweater in, throw on some loafers, and you have a look that works for everything from the office to dinner.
Barn Jackets
The barn jacket is the cooler, more substantial cousin of the shacket that's taking over fall. Think workwear inspired silhouettes in canvas, denim, or waxed cotton with that classic contrasting collar.
I love how a barn jacket adds a little ruggedness to an otherwise feminine outfit. Throw it over a floral dress, a mini skirt, or your usual jeans and tee for that effortless mix of soft and tough.
Cropped Trench
The classic trench got a fall 2026 update and she's been cropped. This shorter version of the timeless trench coat feels way more modern and works so much better with the higher rise pants and mini skirts that are trending right now.
I love that it gives you all the chic trench energy without all the extra fabric you don't need. It's the perfect transitional piece for fall when it's too warm for a heavy coat but you still need some kind of layer.
Polka Dots
Polka dots are back in a big way and I am not mad about it. From dresses to pants to tops, the classic black and white dot is showing up everywhere and feeling way more fresh than retro.

I love a polka dot piece because it adds personality without being too loud. Mix it with neutrals to keep it grown up or lean into the playfulness and pair it with another print.
Sheer Layers
Sheer layering is one of those trends that sounds intimidating but is actually really easy once you try it. Think a sheer top over a tank, a sheer skirt over a slip, or a totally sheer dress over your basics.
I love that this trend gives an outfit so much depth and texture without adding any bulk. The trick is keeping what's underneath simple so the sheer layer can really do its thing.
Barrel Leg
Barrel leg pants are the new wide leg and the silhouette is everywhere right now. The shape is full through the thigh and tapers in at the ankle for that curved barrel like silhouette that's kind of weird but totally cool.

I love them because they're flattering on basically everyone and they add interest to the simplest tops. Pair them with a fitted tank or tee to balance out the volume and let the pants do all the talking.
Track Pants
Track pants are the cool girl bottom of fall 2026 and they've officially graduated from gym clothes to actual outfits. The wide leg silhouette with that classic side stripe just hits different right now.

I love pairing them with a fitted tank or a fun knit and a sneaker for that elevated sporty vibe. They're comfortable enough for travel days but cool enough to wear to brunch which is the ultimate combination.
90s Minimalist
After the premiere of Love Story with John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette aired this year, the 90s minimalist aesthetic made a huge comeback. It’s giving us all permission to lean into clean lines and simple silhouettes like slim tanks, fitted tees, a perfect white button down, and pieces that prove less really is more.
I love how this trend basically tells you that your most basic pieces are actually the most stylish ones. Stick to a neutral palette, focus on great fit, and skip the loud prints for that quietly cool 90s girl vibe.
Predicted Color Trend for Fall 2026: Purple
Purple is the unexpected color of the season and it's popping up everywhere from deep plums to soft lavenders. After years of burgundy and red dominating the cool girl color palette, purple feels like the fresh next step.
I love that purple plays really well with the neutrals you already own like brown, cream, and black. Start small with an accessory or a knit if you're nervous and work your way up to a full purple moment once you see how easy it is to wear.
What a list! What do we think of the trends for Fall 2026? Excited about them? Hating on them?
I am finding a lot that are the same from last fall and spring (which I love, I hate when the trend cycle moves TOO fast). But I am also loving some of the newer and fresher ones like brooches and stirrup pants!
