The Trendy But Classic Fall Capsule Wardrobe (2025)

This year I have become utterly obsessed with the idea of creating a capsule wardrobe. (Check out my Spring and Summer capsules!) I have long been quantity over quality kind of gal, but no more!

So with Fall fast approaching, I am sharing my ultimate Fall capsule wardrobe to help you create endless outfits with minimal pieces this autumn!

Tips on Switching Over to a Capsule Wardrobe (Especially If You’re a Shopaholic!)

If you’re like me and want to simplify your closet, spend less, (and waste less) then it might be time to try and move towards a capsule wardrobe. My personal advice is to keep it simple, keep things relatively neutral, but also keep it fun and make sure it feels like YOU.

Something I also do to curb my shopping addiction (I love shopping, trends, and creating outfits so it’s not easy for me to put the brakes on this habit!!) is I have been focusing on paring down and simplifying my wardrobe, but to satisfy my shopping addiction and need for hopping on the fun trends of the moment I do a clothing rental service! I’ve done Nuuly, Rent the Runway, and FashionPass in the past, and have had good experiences with all!

But overall, it’s figuring out what basics you have, what basics you need and then choosing some pieces with some personality and style that will also go well with most other things in the capsule.

So without further ado, I give you my Fall 2025 capsule wardrobe to give you an idea and starting point for your own!

My Trendy But Classic Fall 2025 Capsule Wardrobe

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Bottoms

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Bottoms
  1. Leopard Pants- keeping it fun with a pop of leopard which is totally on trend for Fall 2025. Also leopard pants read pretty neutral, making them great for mixing and matching. (Check out my post on how to style leopard pants if you need some ideas)

  2. Beige Trousers- a classic but on trend closet staple that goes with so many things! Easy to dress up or down. (Check out my post on how to style trousers if you need some ideas)

  3. Black Trousers- same concept, but in black! Comfy, cute and classy! And easy swap would black jeans if you have those instead.

  4. Brown Leather Pants- adding in some leather for fall, but in a trendy brown color is the perfect addition that will go well with so many outfits and can be worn casually or dressed up.

  5. Jeans- you can go with any pair of jeans really, but I recommend a medium to darker wash for the Fall. I’m loving the wide leg jean trend (especially with the rumors of skinny jeans trying to make a comeback- I’m clinging to my wide leg pair for dear life)

  6. Long Denim Skirt- Fun and trendy, but also super versatile and will go with pretty much any top! (Check out my post on how to style long denim skirts if you need some ideas)

  7. Long Floral Skirt- I think I have featured this skirt in every capsule wardrobe I have done because a black floral skirt is just so easy to style and honestly works in every season. Highly recommend!

  8. Mini Black Skort- Fun for adding some feminine flair and great for that transitional period where you still have some warm weather in the Fall.

  9. Mini Plaid Skort- Same concept, but a little more casual and fun! Easy to dress up or down.

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Tops

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Tops
  1. Denim Shirt- The most versatile top there is and totally on trend for Fall. Wear it layered over a top or on it’s own. Pairs well with skirts, pants, and even layered over a dress. A closet staple for sure. (Check out my post on how to style denim shirts if you need some ideas)

  2. Striped Sweater- A classic and so easy to style. Having a chic striped sweater in your Fall outfit rotation is great when you need a casual but together look in a pinch.

  3. Oversized Turtleneck Sweater- This is such a great piece that can be dressed up or down. It goes with pretty much every bottom in the capsule and is something you’ll grab non stop when putting outfits together.

  4. White Long Sleeve Top- Great for wearing on it’s own or for layering with a jacket or blazer. White is simple and will go with pretty much everything!

  5. Cardigan- Cardigans are THAT GIRL this Fall, and it’s because they are so easy to style. I went with a pop of red and the fun gold buttons to make it more trendy and fun, but really whatever cadigan speaks to you works in a Fall wardrobe. (Check out my post on how to style cardigans if you need some ideas)

  6. Black Tank Top- I recommend choosing something that can be layered effortlessly but also looks chic on it’s own. I love this trending style with buttons that mimics a vest minus the stiffness.

  7. Black Turtleneck- a true classic! No fall wardrobe is complete without a plain turtleneck! So versatile.

  8. Beige Sweater- easy, effortless, will literally go with everything. Need I say more?

  9. Denim Vest- Your trendy but versatile piece. A lot like the denim shirt, but for when the weather doesn’t quite warrant long sleeves yet. (Check out my post on how to style denim vests if you need some ideas)

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Outerwear

  1. Fur Coat or Jacket- Fur is going to be THE trend this Fall, so if you want to hop on it, choosing a nice little faux fur jacket is a fun and easy way to do so. Keep it neutral and it will go well with anything!

  2. Barn Jacket- Another huge outerwear trend for the Fall. It’s cute, casual and easy to throw on over a casual outfit.

  3. Leather Jacket- I mean, it’s a classic! I opted for the leather jacket in this capsule over the denim jacket because there is already a denim shirt (which could totally double as a light jacket!)

  4. Trench Coat- another great staple that is easy to throw on and you look instantly chic! And it’s perfect for Fall weather.

  5. Blazer- Blazers and fall just go together! With the rise of the blazer being worn casually outside the office, it’s a great piece to weave into your fall wardrobe. (Check out my post on how to style blazers if you need some ideas)

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Dresses

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Dresses
  1. Polka Dot Slip Dress- Polka dots are a huge “trend” right now! Trend in quotes because obviously polka dots have been around long before you or I have, but right now they are just a very popular print. I love the slip dress option because you can layer it under a sweater to make it look like a skirt, or dress it up with a leather jacket. The options are endless!

  2. Mini Sweater Dress- A little mini sweater dress is a great staple for your fall capsule because it’s easily an outfit on it’s own but it also can be dressed up or down with the right shoes and accessories. (Check out my post on how to style sweater dresses if you need some ideas)

  3. Black Long Sleeve Maxi Dress- it’s like a classy blank slate that has endless potential! A black long sleeve dress is perfect for date nights, to fun daytime brunch- you just have to style it right!

  4. Denim Shirt Dress- Another great fall option. Denim is just easy to wear and style, and it’s no different when it’s in dress form!

Fall Capsule Wardrobe Accessories

  1. Suede Tall Boots- Definitely a shoe staple for the fall is a good pair of tall boots! I went with a brown suede western pair to keep it versatile but also on-trend.

  2. Gold & Silver Earrings- So you can mix and match to fit the vibe of your outfit.

  3. Birkenstock Clogs- Making a huge comeback in recent years and easily the best casual shoe option that will go well with everything. (Check out my post on how to style Birkenstock clogs if you need some ideas)

  4. Sunglasses- a year round must have!

  5. Baseball Cap- For looking cute on days you don’t want to do your hair

  6. Beanie- For those colder end of fall days!

  7. Loafers- a fall 2025 shoe trend that is fun in this chunky style. (Check out my post on how to style loafers if you need some ideas)

  8. Mesh Ballet Flats- Another fun trend that popped up this past year! I don’t see it slowing down for Fall.

  9. Moto Satchel Bag- Bonus points for adding bag charms!

  10. Versatile Crossbody Bag- Blacks and browns together means it will go with literally everything!

  11. Colorful Sneakers- Another fun shoe trend! The Sambas are a classic that you can wear anywhere! (Check out my post on how to style Adidas Sambas if you need some ideas)

  12. Bandana scarf- honestly my favorite weapon for freshening up an outfit with very minimal effort! Tie it in your hair, around your neck, around your waist like a belt, onto your handbag- the options are endless (and fun!)

  13. Slouchy Socks- Fun for pairing with your flat shoes to give it that cool girl factor.
