5 HUGE Summer Shoe Trends for 2025 (+ Outfit Ideas)
Summer is fast approaching (thank goodness!) and with warm weather on the way, I am ready for a summer shoe upgrade! So let's toss the ugg boots aside and chat what the fun summer shoe trends are for this year!
If you're not familiar with my approach to fashion trends, let me break it down quickly. We do not judge here, because you likely landed here if shopping is your guilty pleasure. But I always say trends are fun, but you certainly do not have to follow them. Do you, boo. Personally I usually fall in love with a handful, and skip the rest! There are always so many trends coming and going, I honestly feel like you can do no wrong as long as you genuinely like what you are wearing.
I also pretty much strictly share trends that us regular girls would actually wear. Sure, there are always some super chic trends happening on the runways in New York and Paris, but like I have kids and a real life. Just tell me the casual trend of the moment that makes me feel cute when I'm grabbing my Starbucks order. Practical styles only please.
Okay so that explanation aside, I am sharing the top shoe trends for summer I am most excited for and outfit ideas to go along with them (because why not?).

Fisherman Sandals
I already mentioned in a previous post that fisherman sandals should be on your spring shopping list, and I was right! And this trend is sticking around for the summer months. Fashion people know, but this is a great way to make a chic statement and still be comfy!

2. Woven Flats
My literal hyperfixation right now. Do you want a shoe that can double as dressy shoe and as casual summer shoes? Then woven ballet flats are the easy way to do that. You can rock the more classic styles or there are cute mary janes styles out there too! I am beyond obsessed and it's so easy to style.

3. Colorful Sneakers
My favorite summer shoe trend because it is SO fun: the colorful sneaker! We all know adidas sambas were a big hit last year, so continuing the sporty sneakers trend for the warmer months is choosing a pair with bold colors! These have been a popular spring style that I definitely foresee continuing well into the summer months.

4. Flip-Flops
Another big summer shoe trend? Believe it or not it's flip flops! Yep, thong sandals are trending and it's literally the easiest way to up your shoe game this summer. You can rock a simple pair of these flat sandals, or go for the more modern styles out there with fun strap details or kitten heels.

5. Buckle Sandals
If you love the OG Birkenstock sandals, then you'll love all these iterations and similar styles out there right now! Every brand seems to be making their own versions, and they are all super cute. I love the fun platform sandals versions because they look cute with everything from a mini dress to a pair of jeans. I also love these because they're fun but definitely not a dying trend. You'll definitely see these again next season!

Honorable Mention: Boat Shoes
One of the most anticipated shoe trends for summer allegedly is the boat shoe. It's getting honorable mention here because I am not hyped about it. I'm scarred from the blisters I got from my pair I wore religiously in college. TSM (IYKYK).
The nautical-inspired slip-ons are slated to be a thing though, but unclear if it will be the traditional styles we expect from a brand like Sperry or a new twist (and hopefully better price point).
